Mel Gibson doesn't owe any fan an apology

Why are people here whining about a drunken rant he had? Am i really supposed to believe that none of the people on this board have ever said anything racist ever in their life? Never laughed at a racist joke? If you say no you're a liar plain and simple.

Gibson obviously isn't an actual racist. He has worked with people of color and I haven't heard any reports from any of them about him treating them badly. In fact I've heard the opposite.

From what I've gathered from this board it's better to be a pedophile like Bryan Singer or woody allen(who both still work) than to say a few racial slurs.

Well said.
The problem is...he didn't necessarily offend a race.....but rather, a religion.
And it happens to be the religion that controls Hollywood.
And there you have it...

The thing is, no matter WHICH power brokers in Hollywood decided to boycott and blacklist Mel.......I'm sorry, but it's very telling about THEIR nature that they have no forgiveness in their hearts.

Agree. And again, it's even more disgusting that there are tons of pedophiles still getting paid millions to direct movies with A list actors. They could be forgiven but Mel couldn't?(until recently that is).

Another example is Victor salva. A pedo who is still directing and got to direct a Disney film after being convicted! The movie was called Powder.

The film's production by Disney resulted in a controversy over the choice of writer-director Victor Salva, who had been convicted of molesting a 12-year-old child actor during the production of his previous film, Clownhouse, in 1988.

You're forgetting two things:

Those threatening, misogynistic calls he made to his ex girlfriend were not "drunken" rants. He admitted that. The only excuse he had was that the relationship was near its end, and he was in a terrible place. Then he claimed the tapes had been edited.

When you tell someone "If you get raped by a pack of n---ers, it'll be your fault" you're a racist. Plain and simple. He wasn't joking, he wasn't reacting to a joke, he was dead serious.

As for Singer and Allen, Singer's accuser dropped his lawsuit, and Allen was never charged because there was no evidence. In fact, two experts said that in their opinion the girl had been coached, very likely by Mia Farrow.

I think Gibson is a great filmmaker and actor, but he's not a good guy. He's an abusive person with rage issues. He may be a perfect gentleman on the set with co-stars and crew members, but it's obvious in his personal life that's not the case.

I suspect Mel may be bi-polar.
He seems like an incredibly charming, likable man. And he has done a lot of good, selfless things for a lot of people. But clearly, he does have a lot of rage and anger issues pent-up inside him as well.

I can forgive Mel his anger issues. Some people with issues like this....will say some of the most hurtful things they can think of to say, in order to push the buttons of the person they're wishing to hurt (or get a reaction from) at that moment.

What I appreciate....is the true class of the friends he has in people like Jodi Foster and Robert Downey, Jr. Clearly, they see past his worst moments. They don't judge him and they didn't turn their backs and abandon him. They are rare examples of true friends. Loyal friends. And they remained loyal to Mel despite the backlash they may have gotten for supporting him.

Forgiveness, grace....love.....should be cornerstones of most all faiths. It should be what binds us together. It's a shame so many people have such cold, black hearts....and cannot forgive. A person with no forgiveness in their heart, is a shell of a man. The inability to forgive, to me......seems a lot worse than Mel saying some awful things he regrets, in a fit of bi-polar rage. Things he has apologized for, and has asked forgiveness for.

In any case....his talent shines through it all. Not even the most resentful blackballers can stifle that.

Forgive, sure. Forget, no. It's happened too many times with this guy.
