Firth's top 3 performances?

1. The King's Speech
2. A Single Man
3. Kingsman: The Secret Service

I've see all his work and he is definitely up there as one of the greatest actors of our time. What are your top 3 Firth roles?

reply

I agree, although I am torn between Pride and Prejudice and Kingsman as #3... and I loved him in Apartment Zero, although it was a rather creepy role!

I'm great, too, and if not going to be younger doesn't mean I... 

Facebook? Sorry, no, never was I in anything like that.
Afraid I'm just not that sort of mind, alas. 

I'm not as well versed in Mr. Firth as some others so I can't really comment on best performances, but I'll throw my 2 cents into what top 3 films are of greatest importance to his acting career.

1. Kings Speech - This one really put him on the map. He was well known in film circles before, but Kings Speech gave him a platform to shine on a global level. Not to mention, he did a wonderful job as George 6th.

2. Kingsman: The Secret Service - It's one thing to establish oneself in a genre and be known for it all your life. Many actors and actresses have working primarily in a specific genre for most of their career (ie. Stallone in action, or Billy Crystal in comedy). It's something completely different to transcend genres and thats what Firth accomplished with Kingsman. What an iconic performance from him as Harry Hart. He was so cool and so believable in a role he isn't known for, an action star. Take a bow Colin, you have hit this one out of the park.

3. Pride and Prejudice - His first big break, way back in 95. You have to always count an actors first big break as a big deal because it got them recognized. Without Mr. Darcy, Colin Firth may never have gotten the opportunity to be a Kingsman and that would've been a big shame.
