I miss John Denver
RIP.
Annie’s Song will always be my favorite
same here
shareI just mentioned JD on another site. Have never owned any of his records, but he deserved all the success he had.
shareYeah, miss him and his music. I saw him in concert at the L.A. Forum at the height of his popularity in the mid '70s. Wow, what a show! Nothing fancy, just his backup musicians, and him with his guitar, singing one great song after another and joking around with the audience for a couple of hours. The place was packed to the rafters. Really a great evening.
shareMassive, massive, massive musical talent. I was reading about his recording set-up back in the day...a chair, a stand, a microphone for his guitar, and a microphone for his voice. That was it...no autotune, no studio tricks, etc. Just pure talent...I just love his music and it's sad to me that I don't think he truly realized how popular his music still was when he died.
shareHe was amazing.
Pity he died the way he did, we’d have plenty more of that folksy acoustic sound if he just laid off those tiny airplanes.
Yes...such a sad death, wasn't it? On one hand, he died doing something he loved. On the other hand, he was only 53 (my current age) when he died. At least we never got to see a decline in his musical skills as well...but he is sorely missed.
shareI’m just a few years behind you but one thing my Dad said was ‘you’re not allowed to play football in High School or buy a motorbike!’
He had two buddies that got really destroyed way back when, the cycle guy died and the football kid wound up in a wheelchair…busted his spine.
I’d add flying tiny planes to that list, my Old Man wasn’t often wrong lol…Pop-Dukes reminds me of this every time I call him😄
My own Boy is fifteen now and bigger than me but I’ll be damned if I let him get a motorbike, join the football team or build a tiny aircraf
Shit happens, sure.
But a lot of shit can be avoided.
I can understand your dad's thinking on this, especially the older I get! 😃
I did some really stupid things when I was younger and fortunately lived to tell about it. But, as a parent, I don't want my boys to do anything that could cause them too much harm. It is a different world today.
Flying, jumping out of airplanes, trying to climb Mt. Everest, etc....no thank you! 😃 If people want to do that, I think that's great...but it just isn't for me! 😃
You are a smart fellow, I get you Amigo.
The world is out to end us, no need to lend a hand.
