The Exact Moment Robert De Niro 'Stopped Caring'

http://uproxx.com/movies/robert-de-niro-chart-stop-caring/

According to this chart, De Niro gave up in 2002, when the Eddie Murphy buddy-cop comedy Showtime, lazy City by the Sea, and Analyze This sequel Analyze That came out. This confirms what I’ve known all along:

Billy Crystal broke him.

I suggest
Giovanni Ribisi !!!
Perfect for role !!!

Yea, he pretty much checked out after Heat and Casino. Retired on the job

Exact moment??? Hmmmm let's see how about NEVER!!! Dude has been consistent throughout his career. He always has a constant presence on screen no matter if he is the lead or secondary character. I hope he does more comedies loved him in dirty grandpa.

Look at his films before Analyze This and after. I think there's a clear downward trajectory from 1999 on, imo.

reply

Definitely. There was a massive drop in both his acting and the pedigree of his films after Heat and Casino. And he seems to be playing the same character over and over since then.

He just got less selective to the umpteenth degree. Basically if someone put a script in front of him he would sign onto it. If you see him on the street, throw a script at him and he will sign on and do it.

There used to be a time when a "Robert De Niro film" was a big deal. Now it is probably more likely to be crap than ever before.
