Why didn't Cruise do more Reacher movies?
I think those Reacher flicks were pretty good. Well, entertaining anyway.
Sometimes I enjoy fast past clever action movies like the Reacher flicks, and Collateral.

They were too small scale... the 2nd one kinda underperformed.
I liked them too and had no issues with the character being described differently in the book.
(Usually people that big-bulky are not good fighters).
The second one was not very good. Perhaps a 3 or 4.
Seems MI has taken priority. Even though that franchise survived and even worse sequel.
That is what I thought too when I saw the second one ... but I just re-watched it and it was not bad. Though, to be critical I am so tired of these movies that have ridiculous chase scenes like people running after each other in the airport, or car chases all over the city. Though the scene where he gets out of the car and just lets it roll and walks into the crowd was pretty good.
I liked the Reacher movies, and I emphasize - MOVIES, not the series, a lot better than the braindead Mission Impossible movies. At least Reacher is an interesting person with some quirks, but the MI stuff is pure BS.
I was entertained by the Live, Die, Repeat movie or whatever that was called, it had a sense of humor, though it didn't make any sense. Anyway, I thought Reacher was a winner, and though I don't like Cruise, he was a good fit for that character.
I have only seen Reacher 2 once. May have to watch them again.
I will admit I’m a sucker for the MI movies though. Except for the second one, of course.
I hope he does more too. I enjoyed them, and of course the first one was better, and I watch them anytime I'm flicking through the channels and I come across it. He probably will eventually. They get aired on TV fairly regularly.
shareCruise is getting kind of old to do believable action roles these days.
shareOhhhhhhhh no he's not!! His latest action movie grossed more than any of his others. Most definitely still a viable action star. But, it would be nice to see more straight dramatic roles as well. He would have won the best actor Oscar for Born on the 4th of July had he not been up against Daniel Day-Lewis for My Left Foot.
shareDoesn’t the author of the books hate the movies because Tom Cruise is only 5’7”? That might have something to do with it.
shareI don't know about the author, but movies are a different animal than a series, and I like the Cruise Reacher movies more than I like the Amazon Reacher series ... but, that's just me.
