Who is this generation's Tom?

I don't think there is anyone.

reply

Still Tom Cruise, I think.

reply

Tom Holland.

reply

Tom Holland is no Tom Cruise. That's a laugh!

reply

Ikr. Tom Holland actually seems like a nice guy. Not an arrogant, deluded midget.

reply

Looks like Will Smith may be putting his hat in the ring

reply

I see a joke in there.

reply

Tom Hardy is this generation's Tom. I think you meant, who is this generation's Cruise.

reply

I did. But I still think there's only one Tom and that includes Hanks.

reply

Colin Hanks doesn't enter into this, at all.

reply

A short quirky, witty, charismatic and crazy leading man? Idk

reply

the rock. outgoing leading man who can sell movies on his name alone in other words one of the few last box office draws

but there is also miles between them in many ways. the Rock is smart enough to not do stunts. just ask Brendan Frazer how that worked out. tom does Large set pieces with perfect planning that are safe (in theory). but ion sure he doesn't do every single jump and role and. having an actor twist an ankle mid shooting because he insisted on trying that 6 foot jump stunt is just not worth it to studios.

reply

Interesting choice. I would say Tom is the better actor though. I can't see The Rock doing something like Magnolia.

reply

ohhh 100% agree. Vanilla sky, various MI films, Tropic Thunder, Last samurai.

that last one especially. Could never in a million years imagine the Rock staring in something as deep and delivering a performance that good.. ive never actually seen Magnolia. But it seems the Rock Neveer takes risks of veers out of his lane

the Rock can only play the Rock, which he does very well. He has the energy and the enthusiasm of an entire choir.

I only compared them on one metric (star power draw) but yes they are extremely different in terms of acting, movie choices ect
