He's a Good Guy
Yes, he can be a bit smug and self-regarding at times, and I don't think he's quite the self-made success story he makes himself out to be (I once read a story where he contrasted himself and Trump, saying that unlike Trump he'd worked for a living, selling goods door-to-door, but Clooney's dad was a news-anchor, his mother was a model, his aunt was a famous singer, and his uncle a famous actor, so he was hardly a completely obscure dude from nowhere).
BUT one story that always makes me regard him as a genuinely decent guy, is where he stood up for an extra on the set of Three Kings who was being shoved about and mistreated by infamous jackass filmmaker, David O. Russell. Apparently, Clooney and Russell got into fisticuffs over it, which is interesting, because one would have thought that supposed 'man-of-the-people' Mark Wahlberg (who has a history of violence...) would have been the one to take a stand, assuming her was there, and not apparent out-of-touch elitist Clooney, but Wahlberg continued working on other projects with Russell, and it was Clooney who did the decent thing, and displayed his integrity by standing up for 'the little people', as well as refusing to work with Russell again.
So, cheers Clooney. Whatever else people might say about you, for this incident alone, I salute you. 🍻
