It's funny that the almost universally reviled Batman & Robin shows an apparent gain in popularity over box office. I don't really believe that's true - just the way the figures are interpreted.

Certain genres are more popular with movie fanatics and tend to hold up better over time, it doesn't mean that they LIKE them..but they are gonna watch em at least once to keep up with their peers who are fanatics of the genre.

I haven't tallied them yet but this is a rough breakdown.

Movies genres that "hold up" best (most searched)

1. Horror
2. Comic book/Super Hero
3. Science Fiction/Fantasy
4. War/Westerns
5. Teen
6. Action

Movies that tend to do the worst over time.

1. Comedy
2. Kids/Children's movies
3. Romance
4. Drama
5. Historical period pieces

Movies that depict human frailty or aging (or movies with stars in their senior years) also tend to do poorly over time.
