Ocean's 11 Remake

What do you think about the all female reboot.

reply

I guess it's not that big a deal since they keep remaking stuff anyway so why not? I think we should start making all male cast movies now though like "Little Men" for instance or the brotherhood of the traveling boxer shorts. :-)

reply

The more I'm thinking about it I'm actually liking the idea. Sofia Vergara could be Andy Garcia's character if you want to type cast lol

I was thinking really big when I was thinking about actresses in the movie. Like Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep in Saul and Rueben. Jen Aniston as Rusty Ryan, because, obviously lol, Cobie Smulders as Linus not sure why, Sarah Hyland and Mila Kunis as the Malloy brothers. Tina Fey as Livingston.

Mo'Nique as Frank Catton and Tinicha Arnold as Tasher. Not sure who would play Tess' part but stick any good looking actor in there and it would work like Charlie Hunnam or Joe Mangienello haha anyway obviously really big but just kicking some things around

reply

I put Cobie in just to lessen the star power but maybe Amy Adams or Jen Lawrence in that part too just to stay big lol

reply

I like your cast. I would say, Sanra Bullock (Ocean), Octavia Spencer (Frank Catton), Jennifer Aniston (Rusty Ryan), Helen Mirren (Reuben), Isla Fisher & Chistina Hendricks (Malloys), Shirley MacLaine (Saul), Emily Blunt (Linus), Eva Mendes (Terry), Ryan Gosling (Tess)

reply

Octavia Spencer! That's who I was trying to think of for Frank! I like that choice too. I like the red head choice for the sisters too and Eva Mendes too. Excellent.

I knew she was staring but didn't know it would be an all-female cast. Interesting idea. I'm cool with it. Though, rebooting a recent film series (again) seems sad for Hollywood and audiences.

reply

Pointless.

I desperately want to see more female-led movies, and a female-ensemble heist movie would be particularly welcome, but what's the point of simply remaking relatively recent films with an all-woman cast? It's insulting to women because it (wrongly) implies that a female-cast can only succeed commercially by piggy-backing off films already made successful by men.

I understand that sentiment completely but I want to add a different twist - a lot of shows like to do a gender bending show, like 12 angry women, or the odd couple with a female cast. It's just the thing that's popular.
