Roger Ebert really slammed 'Thor'-

Of all the major critics who reviewed it, his review was the most negative:

Who cares?
#1 in US and UK.
7.5 approval rating.
Over 340 mil box office.
And if I do say so myself, it was a fun fast-paced sci-fi romp you can bring the whole family to.

I couldn't believe it; I thought Ebert would love it and I think his reasoning was unfair.

Thor had a personality. He was smarmy, arrogant, unliekeable, likeable, funny, powerful and badass.

Oh and Thor went on a clear and extreme character development through the film. The Thor from the first half was a twat. The Thor from the last half was a heroic God.

Ebert *beep* this review completely.

reply

Geez he sounded like a college professor trashing someone's thesis on Norse Mythology instead of a movie critic! I have always loved Thor in the comics and I kinda wished they'd had the Asgardians speak in old English.

Pssssst.

Guys, don't tell anyone this, but Ebert is just a critic and what he says =/= fact.

Just because people know who he is doesn't change the fact that it's just his opinion. Which he is entitled to like everyone else. :P

reply

I like and respect Ebert. But he was wrong.

reply

Agreed! I read his review when the film first came out, and I thought it was BS lol. The film story had a "backbone" as Kenneth Branaugh pointed out. The characters were interesting and the film showed his progression..let me be the first to say, *beep* Ebert's review!!!"
