Why did he turn down the lead in JC's the Thing ?

I'm glad he did, Kurt Russel was great but I think Kenneth would also have been good, I wouldn't change a thing but why THE F'CK would he turn down a good role like that ?

Your post's the first I've heard of his having any sort of involvement with The Thing. Where in hell did you hear that?

There's no way he'd have been offered that role, never mind being chosen over Kurt Russell, who's actually good friends with JC and has been in several JC movies (he cast Kurt as Elvis for God's sake).

You gotta be *beep* kidding. Another What If? casting moment. However, despite the fact that Branagh is a phenomenal actor and director, I can't imagine anyone else apart from Russell as the lead. He owned that role.

He would've been only 21 or so when the Thing came out. Way too young to be MacReady's character.

I may have him confused with Jeff Bridges....or something

reply

Yeah, Jeff Bridges was the original choice for MacReady IIRC.
