Exquisite masterpieces: Thor and Cinderella


It was pure genius, what he did for Thor, enveloping it in a golden, majestic hue; and what he did for Cinderella, creating an exquisite, charming, magical masterpiece.

The magical transformation from the tattered pink dress to the starlight, shimmering, blue gown WAS exquisite; it was grand and mesmerizing.

His artistry and eye for detail blows me away.

I know right?... it's such a pity he didn't get to direct the rest of Thor trilogy.

Definitely agree. Kenneth is a step above most directors in making a quality film with both style and substance.

Indeed, Thor and Cinderella demonstrated what an experienced dramatic actor like Branagh brings to a large budget project. Not only were the visuals sumptuous, but he also used them to highlight the natural emotion. I for one uphold the constant use of dutch angles in Thor, and the goose acting in Cinderella is unparalleled. He also made that Jack Ryan movie with baby Captain Kirk....

It’s one thing to like these films and what he does with them, and even to find them ‘exquisite’, but I think the term ‘masterpiece’ has to be pushing it, right? I sometimes wonder if some people who throw the word around actually understand what it means...

Yup. I saw ‘masterpiece’ used in three or four unrelated posts within a very short span and... well sometimes the mind boggles.
