shareHe appears to be of Indian descent. I would like to know too. My wife and I were just wondering the same thing. Anyone know?
shareThere is no indication of an Indian extraction in Rowan's background and in this day and age if there was someone would have dug it up and published it by now.
Sometimes the accident of genetics makes one appear to be ethnically different from the rest of the family. One biography I've read of RA's said his facial features are an exageration of his siblings'. From the name, I would assume one or two of Rowan's ancestors were part of the invading norsemen or Vikings or some wayward Norwegians/Swedes.

I am a fan and don't have a problem with it if he is of Indian descent. Yes, I understand about his last name not being Indian. But last names are no indicator of descent since all of one's ancestors don't share one's paternal last name...
shareHis wife is half Indian (daughter of Indian father), if you're interested LOL :P
Happiness is only Illusion
which means his daughter is of indian descent, not Rowan :P
Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity
Again I say there is no indication of any Indian ancestry for Rowan and no biographer has come up with anything (unless he was secretly adopted). Knowing how rabid the British press is to dig up this kind of thing, if there is smoke there would be fire. Rowan's situation might be the same as Alistair McGowan who found out while doing the show Who Do You Think You Are? found out he has Indian ancestry. Maybe we should encourage Rowan to do a similar geneology journey to see if he has some hidden ancestry himself.
