Such an Erratic Career.

Worked with Scorcese, Tarrantino, has an Oscar, gave a magnificent performance in "Boardwalk Empire"...yet she was also in "Little Nicky," the awful "Stigmata," "Goodbye Lover," and a *beep* of other duds, including the new CSI spinoff. This isn't a bashing post, she's actually one of my favorite actresses, but she deserves better than a lot of what she got handed to her in some cases.

She's a beautiful woman, would never bash her looks. Some of the people on this board are unnecessarily cruel.

I agree that it's great she goes for offbeat roles, but I think her talents wouldn't be so underrated if she went for mainstream roles on occasion. I'd rather see her in most Julia Roberts or Cameron Diaz roles - she has a lot more depth to her as an actress.

She also comes off as very likable - she has a real warmth to her, both in films and interviews.

Agreed!
She once said she liked to balance more studio films, like Stigmata, with smaller films. She said the bigger films allowed her to do more independent films, I believe $ wise and career wise.

She has made some very interesting choices. I always wondered what big roles she has turned down.

She recently said she turned down Uma Thurman's part in Pulp Fiction when it was offered to her. I also read years ago that she and Bridget Fonda were in the running for Jerry McGuire but were too famous already to be alongside Tom Cruise (ego!!), and she turned down To Die For, which Nicole Kidman later got, and ignited her serious acting career. Also, Last Exit to Brooklyn, which went to Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Either way, it is nice she has finally received film awards, in the case of her work for Boyhood, every best supporting actress award out there, and well deserved.
