Is Native American

"During an interview on Inside the Actors Studio (2012), Brad stated that his ancestry is:

…probably… Irish-Scots, Germans who settled in the area… Native American Indian… I know we have some Seminole, and some Cherokee Indian, in us."

reply

hahahaha why are american desperate to claim white actor as non-white??? i see this all time.

if brad pitts is navajo then opera winfrey is blonde swede.

What do you find amusing? If a person knows that they have a certain ancestry, then what's so funny about that?

"if brad pitts is navajo then opera winfrey is blonde swede."

What's "opera winfrey" got to do with it? Oprah Winfrey might have some Swedish in her family lineage.... Although if she has got European blood then it is more likely English due to how the early American settlers enslaved Africans and systematically raped hundreds of thousands of African women and girls.

A lot of Americans do have native American ancestry, it's just that it's like 0.5% left in the gene pool.
Earlier Americans were more mixed in the East between 1600 and 1700, but then the subsequent waves of immigrants completely wiped that from the gene pool by the 1960s.

I went through Johnny Depp's genealogy and there was an old grandma that looked indigenous American, and if she wasn't she sure looked like it enough for people to assume.

reply

I think someone did a DNA profile on Depp and found that he has Black ancestry but NOT Native American ancestry.

That's like this little Geddy Lee impersonater from Canada who has a Rush-ripoff band called "Crown Lands". He based his whole image and almost all the songs of the band on his supposed "First Nations" background. Turns out he is descended from slaves who escaped the USA and came to Nova Scotia, Canada.

reply

FYI it's fashionable to have some NA ancestry these days.

reply

Agreed, although it's been fashionable for some decades.

reply

White Americans will claim Amerindian descent when they're fully white.

Brown Latinos will only claim Spanish descent when they're clearly mixed with Amerindian.

In the US, "white" is seen as boring, uncool, racist etc.
In Latin America, "white" is the ideal.

reply

My wife is part Latina and she says the reason Latin men mostly wear mustaches is so nobody will mistake them for Indians.

reply

Don't you know? ALL white blond(e) blue-eyed Southerners are Native American, particularly if they're pretty and have high-cheekbones. 🙄🤦‍♂️

reply

"... some Cherokee Indian, in us."

That Cherokee Princess slut sure got around.

I'm proud to say I'm Greek-American and I have NO ZERO NADA Native American ancestry!!!

reply

Anyone who has had all visible characteristics of an ethnicity bred out of them should just not bother trying to claim any affiliation with that group. Nothing is as goofy as blue-eyed, blonde "Indians" trying to act like they're the reincarnation of Sitting Bull.

reply

Why is it always "Cherokee"? If everybody who claimed to be Cherokee was actually Cherokee, then Cherokee would be the biggest ethnic group in the country.

reply

Pitt sounds German.

reply

A simple DNA test would settle it.

He needs to go on that PBS show, that one LeVar Burton went on.
