I once also thought she was at least 5'8" but so many pictures of her with other stars more or less confirm she is indeed 5'6". (i.e: Shirley Maclaine and Faye Dunaway[both 5'7"] and Dyan Cannon [5'6"])

But Raquel Welch is such an amazing presence, she actually looks six feet tall in numerous pictures and video footage; she looked perticularly tall and spectacular in her guest stint on the Donny and Marie show.

but that doesn't make sense because everytime I see her I think my gosh she's tall! she always looks so statuesque and looming and always looks like she's standing above everyone else. and she always looks really tall and her body always looks so long and her stomach always looks so long; she has such a long waistline. and 5' 6" is the first inch above average height for a woman because the average height for a woman is 5' 5" tall, so 5' 6" is just barely tall. and she looks long and tall when not standing next to anyone and not next to any object so how could she only be 5' 6" tall? is it forced perspective or something? or shooting the picture from down low to make her seem taller? but even if that were the case how can you explain how her stomach always looks so darn long and she always looks so tall, like in the movie Bedazzled? I really think she's at least 5' 7 1/2" tall and maybe 5' 8" tall.

I agree Luke. I think someone got a hold of some bogus info on Welch. Although she is often photographed in high heels.

But of course, the shot doesn't give us the final score since we don't see what kind of shoes the ladies were wearing.

I saw Dyan Cannon at a friends place in LA, 1971 and she is tiny. She was gorgeous but a mere wisp of a thing. I'm 5'6 female, at that time I weighed 118 and I looked big compared to her. Oh, she was dating this guy that I was also seeing, a photographer.

She has great proportions and looks taller than she is. It happens the other way around sometimes.
