shareoh.........I think Brando was the better actor, but, from the point of view of sex appeal, Newman was unbeatable & kept it (in my opinion) until the worst ravages of cancer hit.
shareI think they were the same as actors but I agree on the sex appeal thing that is until the worst of the cancer took hold
"why are you married to him then if you can't work with him how do you live with him?"
Paul Newman without a doubt. I'm not a fan of Brando, although I will admit he did have talent. Brando gave most of his best performances in the 50's and basically became lazy. You could see Newman working really hard at his craft.
Newman's film career was better than Brando's in the long run and he had reached the heights of super stardom in the 60's while Brando was box office poison. In the long run Newman's career was more consistent.
I think whoever posted on this board a while ago & put PN in the same category as Eastwood or McQueen was wrong....he was much, much better. And, at his best, he was as good as Brando ever was. But I think Brando has the edge overall.....but I'd have to go back over all the films each one made....too easy to be influenced by examples that come into my mind
shareNewman has the greatest career for any actor IMO. SSSSooo many good films
shareI love Paul but I got to go with Brando for acting and sex appeal. Well in his prime ofcourse Paul aged a hell of a lot better obviously.
