Marilyn Monroe and Robert Wagner

Both stars were young contract players together at Fox in the early 1950s but I don't think they ever made a film together. Can anybody think of a film made in those days that would have been good for the 2 of them to co-star? Or indeed any era, where a young Monroe and a young Wagner would have suitably cast in a film?

Just wondering.

___Robert and Natalie Wood loved Marilyn. They were not always close, but they were friends, two people in an ugly industry who genuinely cared.
___Robert and Marilyn did several tests together, and were both in one film together, 'Let's Make It Legal' 1951.

Speaking of Natalie Wood--When people talk about how the "legend" of MM began after and because of her death, I don't entirely disagree, but there was an unusual affection and tenderness that Marilyn generated. This was voiced by Natalie Wood, who said--about six months prior to Marilyn's death--"When you look at Marilyn onscreen you don't want anything bad to happen to her, you want her to be happy."

It was from those kind of feelings--shared by millions of fans across the world-- that the cult, the legend, the myth began. Years before all the Kennedy tales or the incessant harping on her sex-life in general. There was always something a little melancholy about Marilyn, even at her happiest "sexiest" peak. The public saw this, and reacted to her accordingly. The only other star I can think of who aroused that kind of protectiveness was Judy Garland.

Wagner, speaking of her in the late 1980's, said: "You sensed that she was alone. I don't just mean a lonely person, but someone who is essentially alone, in their soul. She was lovely to be with, because she was always trying to be happy, it was very touching. She fought a lot of demons."
