Would she have been a good Ann Darrow in a King Kong remake?

I think the part is traditionally played by a blonde, but she fits it in general.

I guess she never went blonde did she? or played a "scream queen" role (besides Wait Before Dark and... maybe Charade?) - would have been interesting to see on both counts!

She does some hardcore screaming in both those (especially Wait Until Dark) so she would have gotten that part of the role fine. I think the character in King Kong is just supposed to be representative of the "All American Blonde" though. At least initially. Not that I would mind personally if they cast a brunette in a King Kong movie in the future.

And no, AH in a blonde wig might have been the one look that didn't work for her. 
