Quite a polar opposite death from Kobe Bryant's
1. Old
2. Died of natural causes.
The same could be said for George Burns and rapper Biggie Smalls who died exactly one year apart.

3. In completely unreleated professions.

shareInteresting trivia: Years ago I read of a study they did on entertainers... it turns out that collectively, comedians/comics lived longer than other performers.
George Burns: 100
Milton Berle: 93
Bob Hope: 100
Jerry Lewis: 91
Carl Reiner: 98 (Still living...)
Mel Brooks: 96 (Still living...)
Jerry Stiller (Ben's father): 93 (Still living)
Maybe it's a Jewish thing? (Burns, Berle, Lewis, Reiner, Brooks, Stiller...)
Not related to movies per se, but as a career, mathematicians and conductors(!) are two of the professions whose members are noted for their longevity.

I was thinking maybe its because being funny keeps them happy..but Lewis was a pretty troubled guy. Still, the others..maybe not so much.

The rigors of their minds on numbers and notes may keep them healthy, perhaps?
Back to movie stars:
In the "olden days," heaving smoking and heavy drinking took out quite a few stars from cancer or heart attacks around age 60(or less, or a little more): Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, Tyrone Power, Spencer Tracy.
And Steve McQueen died at 50.
But we now seem to have a generation of movie stars who, even richer than the stars before them and big on "healthy lifestyle"(no smoking, eating right...drinking's still a risk) are already starting to head into their 90's: Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery, Gene Hackman. And directors like Scorsese and Spielberg are working hard into their 70s and almost 80's.
Kirk Douglas may be the "forerunner" of all sorts of 100-year old rich and healthy movie stars.
Mitch Miller, also Jewish, lived to be 99! (1911-2010).
Kate Hepburn, 96-97?(2003, b.1907)
Could be Jewish thing or it could be a rich thing. All those guys could afford very good health care.
