Well, the problem with celebs is you never know what they are really up to.
You have to question anything they did with their money because it could have had an ulterior motive.
There is one guy (from the Golden Age), incredibly and sincerely generous. Gave $ to people left and right, never tried to get credit for it.
In fact, it wasn't until he passed that it came out how generous and giving he was. And, it wasn't an act - it was who he was.
The celeb in question.....
Frank Sinatra
Nice to hear that Sinatra was a decent person. He tends to be smeared and disrespected. Good to know he was good people.
shareYeah. The guy wasn't perfect. A hot head for sure, womanizer, drinker.
It seems to go unnoticed how generous he was. As a quick example- although this may be before your time.....
A great boxer named Joe Louis ended up living in squalor due to IRS debt.
Everyone went on and on about how terrible it was the great Joe Louis would end up in such a pitiable state.
Yeah, everyone went on and on, but only one person actually opened their wallet - Frank Sinatra. He set Louis up very nicely, paid all of his medical bills, made sure he was well taken care of.
This is one example of many.
That’s pretty generous.
Good on him.
Johnny Carson and Liberace are two others involved in philanthropy and didn't make a big splash about it. Especially Carson.
shareYou know you're right.
Had no idea Carson was generous. IN fact, he strikes me as the type that would be purposely non-generous.
Liberace, yeah, he gave to everyone.
I imagine hotel stays were a big part of their budget... if you know what I mean.
