What did you watch this week rockstar? (02/09-02/15)

My week:

Jackpot! (2024 Prime): This one didn’t quite work for me. I think the main issue is the fact that it’s rated R but the target audience are boys from 10 to 15. I don’t mind a silly movie but this is just not a very good one. My rating: 4.5/10

The order (2024 Prime): I saw someone praise this movie here on MovieChat so I bumped it up my list. It’s a well made movie but the story and subject matter was just a little too unpleasant and bleak for my taste. The cast was good (loved Jude Law’s performance), the cinematography was good and there really isn’t anything bad about it. It’s just that it made me feel fucking miserable, that’s all. My rating: 6.5/10

Shocker (1989 TV): The real shocker here is how entertaining this absurd, silly and over the top horror is. I sure had a good time with it. A lot of people didn’t like it, especially big fans of A nightmare on Elm Street. I did see the resemblance but for me it was on the same level as the renown classic. There were a few buzzing camera shots, zooms and angles, the special effects were power driven, the soundtrack was nothing short of electric and the story is filled with fun energetic nonsense. At 1h50, it could’ve been cut short of a good 15 minutes though and that’s the only reason I don’t give a higher score. My rating: 6.5/10

Hidden strike (2023 Netflix): Love Chan so much! Cena, I really don’t care/mind him much. The first half was a bit of a struggle but the second half was more fun. LOTS of action! My rating: 6/10

New Jack City (1991 DVD): Gangsta classic, iconic, nostalgic, tragic and addictive. Glad I watched it again with the gang. My rating: 8.5/10

Piranha (1978 Tubi): I like most horror comedy but this didn’t work well on any of those two genres for me. It was weird and a bit boring. My rating: 5/10

Captain America: Brave new world 3D (2025 Theatre): Movies like this should start with a bang. Start with a bang it did not. Do you love Harrison Ford though? If you do, you should enjoy this. He’s all over it! It’s starts with him and ends with him. He’s serious, he’s angry, he’s confused, he’s sad, he’s happy…I respect him a lot and enjoyed a lot of his movies but let’s be honest, he’s getting old and it showed here. Not enough action and too much Harrison Ford. These are the two main issues. On the plus side, Tim Blake Nelson played the villain very well and the majority of the cast did a good job. Also, im a sucker for 3D movies at the theatre, I just love the experience. My rating: 6.5/10

Ahoy!

This week I watched:

"Guy Ritchie's the Covenant" (2023) - As a moviechat user once said about war movies:"And they all look the same - faceless villains no one cares about. They have no motive, nothing. They are just there because hero must overcome someone."
I had similar vibes, same as with "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi". Although the real hero here wasn't the american soldier.
5,5/10

Get Shorty (1995) - Haven't seen this one since I was a teen. Fantastic flick. Good perfomances & fun characters. 8.5/10

The Sandman season 1 (Netflix) - Finally checked it out. First 6 episodes are so damn good. And then it takes a turn for the worst. Genuinely struggled to finish the final 4 episodes.

Legit felt like I was watching a CW melodrama. The score would be higher if it just stopped after the first story concluded. At the sixth episode. 7/10
