Any horror movies where they don't risk themselves to save the pet?

I was watching this low budget horror comedy called Zombeavers and they go against horror movie tradition when one of the people trapped on a raft sacrifices a beloved doggo in order to give them a chance to escape.

I've seen quite a few horror movies, and it got me thinking about how in every horror movie I've seen people are willing to risk their lives to save a pet, usually a cat or dog. I've never seen one abandoned, much less sacrificing a pet like that.

I imagine it would make a character pretty unsympathetic, but I tend to agree with the guy in Zombeavers, that if I have to choose between a human or an animal, even the best boy in the world, I'd go with the human. Unless they are a cold blooded killer or something.

Anyone aware of any other exceptions to the save the pet rule? Horror history interests me, so I'm curious.

Edit: just to be clear, I was thinking specifically of situations where people or a person decided not to risk their lives to save a pet, or something similar where they put human life ahead of an animal friend. Not so much killing a pet because it's become vicious or they've gone insane or something like that.

Dead Calm (1989)

Not only did Nicole Kidman not seem to give a shit about her dog enough to be concerned about what insane psychopath Billy Zane was doing with it, but she ended up shooting it with a harpoon gun on accident and then looked at it for half a second without saying a word.

Yeah, that's the kind of thing I'm looking for. The dog was not a priority at the time.

Zombeavers is a very silly movie, but it did seem to create a semi serious discussion on the subject of whether you'd put more importance on human lives in a life threatening situation like that. I think I was in the minority saying that yes, human > pet. To anyone who might hate on me for that, imagine if it's a loved one of yours I saved first instead of going back for my beloved doggo. LOL.

Snakes on a Plane....

Granted it wasn't his dog, but annoying man did sacrifice Rachel Blanchard's dog.

If killing a cat during a mental breakdown counts then May (2002).

Actually, she's not entirely indifferent about it..

Answering my own question here, but I just remembered how in Drag Me to Hell the woman who's been cursed ends up killing her cat when she thinks she has to in order to remove the curse.

In that case, it wasn't just a cat over her life, but the cat for her eternal soul (she thought).
