Google Maps to rename ‘Gulf of Mexico’ to ‘Gulf of America’

Google said on Monday that it will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America” in Google Maps once it is updated in the U.S. Geographic Names System.

“We’ve received a few questions about naming within Google Maps. We have a longstanding practice of applying name changes when they have been updated in official government sources,” the company said in an X post.

I think it should be renamed to The Gulf of KOWALSKI. That way people will never get lost.

LOL - In Cincinnati we have an expressway corridor that goes through the city, east to west. Originally named Cross County Highway, several years ago it was renamed Regan Expressway, but many people still refer to it as Cross County - nothing political, simply old habits are hard to break.
