It was also such a classic game back in the 90s.

I'll name two:

1) "Aquatic Ambience Returns" from "Donkey Kong Country Returns." I really love that piece of music...it was set over a "beach level" (I believe it was called "Blowhole Bound, Level 2-6...it was my favorite level of the game). My boys and I all played that game for hours on the Wii...it makes me feel nostalgic and sad in some ways to hear it today (I miss some things about my boys when they were little!).

2) The original "Tomb Raider" theme. I never actually played any of the Tomb Raider games...my younger brother did and my family would watch him play this during the Holidays back in the mid-90s. What an incredible piece of music, IMO (I believe it's all done on a synthesizer):

Great shout on Donkey Kong - I had forgotten about that game. I always loved Simian Segue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4EjGXRDOH0&t=314s 2:14

Awesome! Yes, the Nintendo games just have amazing soundtracks in general, in how they match the music and gameplay so well. I used to just listen to the Donkey Kong soundtrack at times, even when I wasn't playing the game.

I spent a lot of time playing Everquest years ago and the music was generally great. Kelethin's (a city in the trees) theme was a favorite.

Oh, another former EQ player.

I played a bst on Karana until PoP. Also got a Erudite paladin to 60 on p1999 years later. Yourself?

I started around the time POP came out. I wish I had found the game earlier. I think it probably peaked a little earlier than that, with Kunark and Velious.

There were still a lot of new players coming into the game back then, though, so there were a lot of people around to do lower level stuff with. I put a lot of time in but never hit max level. I kept re-rolling. I think I put the most time into Ranger and Necromancer.

I've been a massive fan of video game music ever since the time of the NES, so this is one of those topics I could not only go on about forever, but also couldn't really pick a single favorite and stick with that choice for more than 5 minutes.

That said, if I were to choose one right now, I suppose I'd go with this absolute banger:

Guardian Heroes (Sega Saturn, 1996) - Rough and Ready
