who according to you is part of the future Hollywood stars of this generation, I would say Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Millie Bobby Brown, Jenna Ortega, Milly Alcock, Rachel Zegler, Mia Goth, Saoirse Ronan, Elle Fanning, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Daisy Edgar Jones, Sadie Sink, Emma Mackey, Madelyn Cline, Timothee Chalamet, Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi, Austin Butler, Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Nicholas Galitzine, Charles Melton, Drew Starkey, David Corenswet, KJ Apa and Finn Wolfhard
I want to know your opinion and be able to discuss it

reply

This is going to sound pretty cynical.

I don't think anyone from your list will be a lasting Hollywood star.

I believe they'll all have a brief time in the sun, and then fade away. Some of them will fade away quickly. Others may have a bit longer in the limelight (Chalamet seems to be hanging around).

IOW what one thinks is, ten years from now, at least 90% of the people on this list will be completely forgotten.

I see one name, one name that represents a talented actress - Saoirse Ronan. That's about it. One would predict she'll still be around in ten years, maybe at some point winning a Best Actress Academy.

reply

Are you kidding ? Wtf

reply

No. I'm not.

I don't think any of the people on your list is a good enough actor, has enough star power, or enough charisma, to still be relevant 10 years from now.

Ronan may because she is a talented actress.

Chalamet is hanging around, probably more so because young teenage girls go crazy for him. Ten years from now, they won't be - hence I don't think he'll be around either.

reply

I wouldn't say any, but definitely the majority of those on that list will not be "future Hollywood stars." That's true of any decade in film.

reply

Agreed except....

"That's true of any decade in film."

Actually it's not. Everyone has to start somewhere, and some do become big, long lasting Hollywood stars.

To do that, you have to have something going for you. It could be....

Great acting - Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Philip Seymour Hoffman, etc

It could be charisma - Burt Reynolds

Star power - Brad Pitt

People like this last in Hollywood. Even PSH, yes unfortunately he died of an overdose, but he was a steady working actor for 22 years.

reply

That was exactly my point. All the big stars started somewhere, as you said. All of the "somewheres" don't become big, future stars. Most of them don't.

reply

Yes, ok, we are on the same page.

Not everyone (in fact very few) become big stars.

Where we may disagree is one believes you think several of the performers mentioned in the OP will become long lasting Hollywood stars.

I think only one of them (ROnan) has the goods.

But one could be wrong - we'll have to wait ten years to see......

reply

I think I'm good without.

90% are people I don't know.

reply

None from your list stand out to me as long term players.

If I had to bet on someone, I'd be bet Dakota Johnson will have some legs in the business.

reply

Yeah, agreed on the first sentence.

Dakota? I don't know, she's falling into the had her time in the sun and is now fading away category.

Hasn't had a hit in years. She even went the comic book route (Madam Web) -which turned out to be another loser.

reply

From my perspective there's no such thing as a future Hollywood star. The only ones I view as stars are the ones who were already a star or became a star when I was young and impressionable. People like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, and so on, seemed larger than life to me when I was a kid.

Today's young Hollywood actors are just dumbass kids to me, no different than any random dumbass kid on the street, and I could never view any of them as "stars."

reply

I’m a bit old to reply to this question but maybe:

Millie Bobby Brown
Jenna Ortega
