Fireworks on Halloween?

I live in a quiet neighborhood but last night there were pops going off pretty much all night. This happens on NY eve as well.

reply

It was Diwali last night. My neighbours were popping them off like a weekend in Chicago.

reply

I’ll go for the Halloween 🎃 👻 Diwali 🪔 Guy Fawkes 🎆🎇🧨 treble.

We get fireworks for about 2 weeks 🤷‍♂️

reply

Why not celebrate Canadian thanksgiving just a few ago and then celebrate American thanksgiving at the end of November? You got about 6 weeks worth right there.

reply

💥

reply

Weird! I never associated Hindus with fireworks.

reply

Yeah, usually they just Singh.

reply

Uggh, you should Sikh help!

reply

I can't. There are no psychologists anywhere near a Turban area like where I live.

reply

So that's what it was. We have Indians on our block so Diwali celebrations must be it!

reply

My street is about 80% Indian and it sounded like a warzone.

We are having a bit of a drought here in The Hudson Valley, New York. Over a month without substantial rain and the hills are loaded with dry leaves and fallen tree limbs. Thank goodness nobody was foolish enough to light fireworks last night. We currently have a ban on outdoor fire pits and I won’t even light the fireplaces indoors, it’s too risky.

reply

I'm old enough to remember real fireplaces that you loaded up firewood into. I also remember when the winters smelled like smoke outdoors which wreaked havoc on my asthma lungs.

reply

Oh, yes, we have two fireplaces and the backyard is loaded with split logs plus several garbage cans of kindling in the garage…We love a cozy fireplace on an NFL Sunday!

But there is a several county burn ban and we don’t want to cause serious damage or worse so we are laying off it for now.

reply

NFL Sunday & the fireplace, so American 👍👍👍
