If You Could Live In Any Director's World...

Who would you pick? Someone mentioned this online, and I'll have to think about it, but curious what you all think.

What am I living as?
A protagonist? An antagonist? A supporting character? Or a background character?

You choose.

I don't know much about directors but whichever one's worlds are the most optimistic, carefree and hopeful. I'm open to suggestions.

You might enjoy Groundhog Day, directed by Harold Ramis. It’s very uplifting and optimistic. Basically a cruel, selfish and apathetic jerk slowly improves his manners and outlook while romantically pursuing a kind and sweet woman.

This one always makes me happy.

reply

Thank you! I see he also directed National Lampoon's Vacation, a classic that always makes me happy. 😊

reply

Vacation was absolutely a classic!
Harold Ramis is a legend, RIP to that hilarious, beloved and intelligent man👍

Um. Oooh. That is a tough one. My favourite director is probably Ingmar Bergman. I don't want to live in his world. Too bleak. I don't want to live in Hitchcock's world, because I might get murdered. I don't want to live in Andrzej Żuławski's world, because the camera movements would make me nauseous...

I'm going to choose a director I'm not actually all that fond of...

Wes Anderson. That'd be kind of tolerable. Everything very neatly arranged and inoffensive.

100 % Jess Franco!

reply

Ahh, you like those busty European babes, I’m onto you!

reply

His leading ladies are definitely part of the allure. Plus you get 170 + films to choose a vibe from. 😄

reply

Probably kevin costner, cause that would be a perfect world.

reply

Nicely done.

Great movie, great answer😄

reply

Such a sad ending.

reply

Is this a reference to The Postman?

reply

David Lynch's world. Best way to truly understand him. I hope he'll make his comeback.

I’d like to live in The Shire from Peter Jackson’s Tolkien movies. I’m a better than average gardener so I’d fit into Hobbit society very well👨‍🌾

It’s here to come and visit at least..

And you’d be more than welcome, friend 🙂

Oh, that’s so great!
I do love the Hobbit houses, gardens and fishing rivers!

A nice comfy chair, a fireplace and a good book…HEAVEN!

More of a producer/showrunner, but he technically directed as well: Gene Roddenberry on Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation. It presented a positive, optimistic vision of what the future could be, where many medical problems had been solved, humans had gotten passed trivial conflicts, and so on.
