Anyone here done boxing?


I just started a boxing bootcamp workout last week as a supplement to weight training at the gym. Fun but intense cardio. Hoping to overcome this weight loss plateau from the gym routine. Plateaus suck.

No, I got a floor standing punching bag for Christmas one time, but that's about it.

I really need to get into an exercixe routine. I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I remember hitting 180 my senior year and thinking I'd gotten fat. Now I'm about 235.

Well, boxing is an excellent way to lose the weight.

I'm similar. The heaviest I've been at was 229 Ibs back in February 2024 and my goal is 190. I was around 185 in high school
and currently at 201.

I'm kind of short at 5' 7" but have a pretty solid build. I'm kind of in the Jack Black mold when it comes to body type. 160 would probably be about ideal for me, maybe a little heavier if I get into weightlifting. Adding a little muscle is always a good idea. Burn some calories.

I've wanted to try boxing since when I was young because of JCVD, but I have asthma, so it was almost a non-starter, even at the thought of doing so. I peaked at middle school soccer (i.e., football for the rest of the world).

Yes, I boxed while in the Army.

Miles and miles of jogging is part of it.

Learn the speed bag. Learn how to properly hit the big bag.

Don't forget head gear if you actually get in the ring.

No, but I love the sport. Considered getting a punching bag and some gloves.
