Songs Which Sound Like The Beatles But Aren't By The Beatles...

... Yesterday I was stumped for several hours attempting to identify a Beatles song which started with the lyrics "My Aunty something" which I was sure had to be on the white album or Abbey Road but was in fact on neither nor anywhere else Beatles-wise.

In the end it turned out the song was Auntie Iris by Pilot. Next thing I know I was putting together a Beatles sound-a-like playlist on the old Spotify.

Anyway, I'm looking for some additional entries to the playlist, so please share with me any songs you've got which you've always thought sounded very Beatles like...

Chicago - Baby What a Big Surprise

Yeah, I'll take that 👍.

Wasn't sure initially as Chicago are pretty distinctive with the vocals but the trumpets on that one definitely gives it a Beatles feel...

the pocket piccolo and the oboe gives it a somewhat "Penny Lane" sound

"Wake Up Sunshine" is a song Robert Lamm wrote and sang and said inspired by The Beatles.. Chicago was very eclectic in the 70s.. Must have been nice to have 3 lead singers (and 5 on Chicago XI)

Kansas: "Look at the Time".

Sadly not on Spotify but that is a brilliant song!

Not sure if it's 100% Beatles sounding (but I do hear it in the harmonies) but for me it sounds almost like a lost Bond theme. Really good...

Or pretty much anything they recorded.

When I listen to Squeeze I hear a lot of influence, including harmonies and chord changes- very obvious, and nice.

This is a horse of a different color but check out "Yellow Matter Custard".
