Bob Dylan is one of those musicians that I think there is so much attention paid to his songwriting (which is incredible) and his singing voice (pro and con), but I think his guitar playing often gets overlooked (especially his acoustic playing). This song is a good example of that (and how good of a harmonica player he is...I know some people have been critical of it, but I like it...you can tell it's Bob Dylan when he starts to blow! π).

Right. Early on, he was aiming at virtuosity, and got very far with his acoustic playing. His touch is incredible. The harp is a light melodic counter-point to the chord progression. My favorite harp part of his is on 'simple twist of fate' :

Awesome! ππ One of my friends during my Senior year of high school let me borrow "Biograph." I'd never heard anything quite like it. That was around the same time I was getting into singer-songwriters like Jim Croce, James Taylor, Harry Chapin, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, Simon & Garfunkel... plus The Eagles. But that's when I really became more familiar with Bob Dylan's music.
That same friend and I were going to do a version of "Baby, Let Me Follow You Down" for our high-school talent show, but the talent show ended up getting canceled (Fortunately for me, I think... I'm sure that I would have butchered the song back then). There's some really nice guitar playing by Dylan on that... it's actually a take on an old Rev. Gary Davis song called, "Baby, Let Me Lay It On You" and I love this to this day:
