Critics Tend To Not Get, Or React Against, Satire
Here are a couple of black comedies I think are classic, which the critics generally turned their nose up at :
Mars Attacks !
Don't Look Up
Roger Ebert was, quite often, the most goofy snooty critic around. He would gush over schlock, but train a withering eye on films with a bit of sarcastic/ironic grit.
I think some folks really hate cynicism. But, you know, its been around a long time, and has a rather impressive pedigree - Voltaire, Swift, Twain, etc.
Can you come up with other such films that are witty & distinctive, but given short shrift either in the marketplace or by critics ?
