I want prime rib so bad!
But...my gout problems....
shareOne of these days I have to try prime rib at a high-end steakhouse.
shareYou live in Reno. I'm sure the casinos have a lot (and you can always go to Las Vegas for some as well.)
shareHome of the $9.99 prime rib. Of course we have fine dining as well, but expensive steakhouses may or may not offer prime rib. I'll track one down some day.

That $5.99 prime rib & fries is now $9.99. For the money it is not bad. But I want the good stuff!
Its the best.
shareGoogle Paula Deen's Foolproof Standing Rib Roast.
Comes out perfect every time, and I'm a lousy cook.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon Paula Deen's House Seasoning
1 (5-lb) standing rib roast
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 °F.
Allow roast to stand at room temperature for at least 1 hour. Rub roast all over with the House Seasoning. Place roast on a rack in a pan with the rib side down and the fatty side up. Roast for 1 hour. Turn off oven. Leave roast in the oven but do not open oven door for another 3 hours. About 30-45 minutes before serving time, turn oven to 375 °F to reheat the roast.
Cook’s Note: Do not remove roast or re-open the oven door from the time roast is put in until ready to serve.

Now that's a simple recipe...I will try it some day (I do not own a roasting pan, for one thing)
Not a fan of prime rib, except that outer cap of darker more tender more flavorful meat around the outside. If they offered that, I'd order that instead. I forgot the name of it..
Prime rib is tender, but is lacking in flavor IMO. I'd prefer a NY strip or Rib Eye.
That's what the au jus is for!

A good cut doesn't need it!
On a different subject, I can't believe people put A-1 on steak. Maybe if it was horsemeat I might..
I will use steak sauce on leftovers. A-1 is not bad, but I prefer HP. And yes, I will put ketchup on leftover steak. It's good!

Wrong answer - you are hereby removed from my will!!!
I like the "end cut" the best also.
shareSo what happens if you eat red meat?
shareOne of my feet starts to hurt after a few days of eating a substantial amount...makes it hard to walk....
shareIf it's days later, how can you be sure it's caused by the red meat? I googled it as I'd never heard of the connection and scientists currently seem to think that the link between gout and diet might be exaggerated and that it's mostly genetics. Moderation seems to be the key, as usual.
shareHmm..maybe it could genetics since my dad also has gout. But yeah, you're right, moderation could be the key.
