Who's the asshole who decided that it's okay to make an uppercase "I" look exactly the same as a lowercase "l"?

Al, Al, AI, Al, AI, AI, AI, Al, Al, AI, Al, Al, AI, AI, Al, AI, Al...

Can anyone tell just by looking which of those is short for e.g., "Albert," and which ones are an initialism for "artificial intelligence"? Obviously not (assuming the same font that I see on here, which looks like Arial).

Yes, you can usually tell the difference based on context, but making a font with two different letters of the alphabet that look exactly the same is still ridiculous no matter how you slice it.

I use Arial for everything in my browser, so I have the same problem.

The lowercase "l" is higher than the uppercase "I", so you can actually tell if you look closely.

They are all simple vertical lines that are 1 pixel wide and 10 pixels tall.

Which is weird, because on my mobile it does show the difference in length and on my computer the upper case "I" is actually the Roman numeral. Maybe change the settings of your browser? It doesn't seem to be a problem of this site.

It can make catchy radio pop but it can't make anything with any depth yet. Radio pop is all most people are interested in though so the music industry will be replaced by this very soon. It's likely already being used to produce songs for pop artists, even if they don't admit it.

I agree. Though I got to say, that last song, the chill music "Just For Me" was really nice. I really liked it. How long will it be before it can create an endless stream of music that you really like. I mean it's hard for me to imagine it creating something as good as Pink Floyd's Shine on You Crazy Diamond for example, but it was hard for me to imagine that it could create any song that made me feel something, but that chill wave song did made me feel something. It's kind of scary.

It's good at making simplistic music, which is what most pop music is, including chill wave. I hope it will never be able to create music like Pink Floyd but it probably will eventually. Humans are all on the chopping block.

I chose Shine on You Crazy Diamond for a reason. It's an example of a song that an AI will never be able to write because that song is about a real person and his struggles written by people how knew and loved him. Having said that, I can imagine an AI knowing you so well that it can write a moving song about you even if it can't "feel" it.
