Anyone else having the Mozilla Firefox/Moviechat problem??

Hello to everyone out in Moviechat land. For some reason, when I try to log into Moviechat via Mozilla Firefox I get......

"Something went wrong. Please try again."

I'm getting in fine with Microsoft Edge - which is what I'm using right now.

Anyone else having this problem???

reply

No, I use Google which has failed me before and forced me to use a laptop which is just clunky imo.

I am getting a ridiculous amount of pop up ads including a frequent ad for some vacation place which freezes my screen on mobile.

I don’t want to piss and moan about a totally free site that I love but goddam, these ads are really annoying!

reply

Are you on mobile? If you use Firefox you can install UBlock origin extension just like on the Desktop. You won't see any ads anymore. I don't know how people can stand surfing the internet without an ad blocker. But even if you do need to use a browser that doesn't have an ad blocker, you could install something like DNS66 (for mobile). This will allow you to block ads via DNS:

reply

Yeah, I’m mostly on my iPhone.
Also, sometimes mid-post I’ll get dumped and have to type it all over again OR my screen goes all tight and small. It’s really frustrating!

Try the duck duck go app. No ads and it might fix your problems

reply

I will, thanks!

reply

I use DuckDuckGo as well - free app, works wonders.

reply

They should pay us at this point.

Deffo 🤣👍

Wan King, you are correct. I was wondering why I was again being besieged by ads which would cause my iPad display to jump. I knew full well I had been on MC without the TEMU ads ad nauseam. I also was going to post an OP about the problem. When you replied I was using Safari so I switched back to Go Duck Go. The MC tab was still at the top left corner. I opened it and Yahoo! No ads! Thanks for reminding me.😘

reply

A pleasure 😘

Yo!! I thought my phone had the problem but recently, I’ll be typing a long ass reply and then my screen will suddenly reload and I lose everything. Sometimes it gets me angry honestly.

reply

Yup, pisses me off too almost daily!

There's also AdGuard:
https://adguard.com/en/adguard-ios/overview.html
It works with iPhone. I use it on my android in cases where I need to block ads on browsers other than Firefox.

There are a lot of idiots out there that think ad blockers are morally wrong because they take money away from creators and websites.

reply

Yes they are out there, but that is not the case here. It's just that people who are on mobile and maybe less tech savvy have a harder time figuring out how to get it to work. They don't want to bother installing other browsers and extensions and spend the time to set them all up. It's a hassle. They just want it to be quick and easy. That's why if they are on the Desktop and they're already using Chrome I tell them to install the UBlock extension. But if they are on mobile, it has to be as simple as downloading an app. That is why I suggested AdGuard above and others suggested DuckDuckGo. They are both apps that one can easily download, that work on the iPhone and you don't have to fiddle around with them.

reply

Use Brave or GoDuckGo. They don’t track you. I’ve divorced from all things Google, no Chrome, no Maps, etc. The only site I use owned by Google is YouTube. Google IMHO is akin to Amazon. Both have you by the gonads.

reply

Don’t recall if it was Movie Chat, but not that long ago I had issues with Firefox not letting me login to websites.

No amount of clearing cookies or adjusting settings made any difference either, so I gave up and switched back to using Chrome and never looked back.

reply

Yeah, I may do the same thing.

I'm now having trouble with two other websites as well, on Firefox.

I'm not having any problems using Microsoft Edge.

Seems like it's a Firefox issue.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply Daft.

Try rebooting your laptop or computer. That might help

reply

Thanks BKB

I'm working off of a Dell desktop computer

Windows 10

When you say reboot, doesn't that mean I'll lose all my data?

IOW - I believe if I did reboot, I'd have to start all over. I'd have to redo all of my preset log in info (for like 30 different sites). I'd lose all of my bookmarks. Correct?

reply

You shouldn't lose any data unless you don't have said Data saved

reply

Yeah thanks BKB. All I had to do was refresh Firefox. I didn't lose a thing other than unneeded extensions. All set now - thank you.

reply

Wow, you need to reboot a PC every few days if you are using it a lot. If you set your browser to save passwords or use a password saver you don't have to worry.

reply

Clearing the cache often seems to help
