Marcin, Tim Henson - Classical Dragon

This is what happens when you put two guitar gods together and make a YouTube video

I'm not at a point where I find that type of music enjoyable.

It's musical, it's extremely technical and yet, sometimes less it more

reply

To each his own.
I know there are some guitarists (I am one) and guitar fans on this board. I thought they might enjoy it.

reply

I'm a guitarist too, and I do admire the technical ability of these guys. I'll probably give it another try next time I gotta work on something.

For what it's worth, it is more enjoyable than the mindless shredding of say, Malmsteen

reply

Yeah, I was a fan of Malmsteen when I was a teenager, but it got old really quick.
I mostly played in the classic rock style. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hedrix, etc were my main influences. But after 25 years I started to get bored and I plateaued. I felt like my guitar playing was going no where. So I stopped playing for a couple years. But now, bands like Polyphia (Tim Henson) and guitar players like Marcin have reignited my passion. I decided to change gears and learn their styles.
You can see what I'm working on in my response to Andy King down below.

reply

Technically excellent, but I couldn’t listen to a whole album of it.

reply

I think I feel the same. But I do like this song. When I first listened to it, I didn't like it that much. Then a day later I noticed that it's stuck in my head. Like an ear worm. Just playing over and over. It grew on me. And yes, it is technically brilliant.
I'm actually working on one of Tim Henson's songs right now:

It is hard as fuck. So far I can play a quarter of this song. The hybrid picking and the sweep picking is insane. It's hard to believe that you can sweep so smoothly with that much speed. But all it takes is time, a metronome, and consistent practice.

reply

I take it you already know about ichika nito?

reply

Of course. I'm not ready to attempt his stuff yet. But when I am this will be the first song that I want to try:

I love its melancholy sound.

reply

Hell yeah, that guy is a master melody maker

reply

Yeah, he's something else. In a league of his own.
Have you ever seen his colabs with Marcin? Amazing guitar work from both of them:
