Yes to both. Being cheated on sucks, but cheating and hurting your partner/gf/wife sucks even more.

Hard to say for sure (for anyone I guess), but I'm inclined to say no, and only because I was young when I met my wife and only dated maybe four girls before I met her, and only one was semi-serious. Can you be cheated on unless you're exclusive?

I don't think what you did was cheating, because you ended those previous relationships before you met your wife.
