I didn't tip at a restaurant the other day and it felt good not to!

I always felt like I had to even though the service was just OK or sometimes something was bad but tipping was automatic and I did it anyway which is between 15-20%.

Well, last time I finally got woke and in control.

I had to pay before eating, which is new, and to leave a tip, which is bogus.
One should not leave one until afterwards depending on the service, which I was going to do with a few bucks on the table.

We ordered an appetizer and I asked for chilli as a side dish and asked if it was spicy.
The girl who took the order said it wasn't.
It was and our appetizer did not come until after the main meal.
Plus we had to get our own water and bus our dishes.
No tip.
It is not an obligation and it is my money and I will do with it what I want to.

That's some pretty terrible service. And yes, tipping before the meal is a lot of nonsense. If I had cash and the service was fine I'd tip after the meal.
