Uber and Lyft leaving Minnesota

"Uber and Lyft plan to end operations in Minneapolis after the city council voted to increase driver pay. The council passed an ordinance on the issue last week. On Thursday, it voted to overrule a mayoral veto of the measure"

This all presumes that winter in The Twin Cities wasn't more than enough incentive for folks who might have otherwise filled Uber and Lyfts pay rolls to flee The Land of 10,000 Lakes

A state mandated increase of the minimum wage was, in this instance, more superfluous than John Ramsey spending a couple thousand on a prom dress for JonBenet, here in '24

What has been people's experience with them?

Someone told me a $10 regular taxi ride, could cost $30 to $50 with Uber.

"An Uber spokesperson told the publication that the company was disappointed by the council's choice to "ignore the data and kick Uber out of the Twin Cities,” putting around 10,000 drivers out of work."

Which would be Uber/Lyft's fault.

And don't they have a bad rep. for raping and even killing riders?
In any case, fuck them.
Ain't my problem or concern.

I lived in Minneapolis during the 1990s and I loved the city! But when I read stuff like this and other kook stuff (which would dip this post into politics) I don't regret having left!

Oh, and not owning a smartphone, I've never used either service.
