Crowdfunding for an Upcoming Feature Film
My name is Logan D. McCoy. I am currently gearing up for a Seed&Spark crowdfunding campaign I intend to launch in mid-April for a feature film I wrote called My Only Sunshine and am trying to build up an audience/following to get the word out to find potential backers for the film. A brief summary of the story:
Set in the 1980s against the lonely, isolated backdrop of rural Mississippi, a young man begins a voyeuristic relationship with a couple he works for. Crammed into a state of reclusion by a past of abandonment, neglect, and sexual abuse, Joey is in dire need of human contact which he finds in the sexually repressed but affectionate Raquel who he makes love to, and her quietly grieving husband Daniel who takes pleasure in watching them. Along the way, Joey meets April, a small-town runaway whose only objective is independence from the controlling and violent forces of her former life.
The inspiration for My Only Sunshine comes from a literary world as much as it does from a cinematic one. The story, themes, and of course the setting are heavily influenced by the works of novels like Carson McCullers (The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Reflections in a Golden Eye, The Member of the Wedding) and Pat Conroy (The Prince of Tides). As well as playwright Tennesee Williams (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof).
The movie adaptation of that play also acted as a source inspiration as do films like American Honey (2016), Black Snake Moan (2007), Mud (2012), Mysterious Skin (2004), and Sling Blade (1996). All of these examples affecting the shaping of this project in terms of writing, tone, and/or visual style. Official socials for the project:

They are kind of bare right now but I hope to get more material up, such as a pitch video, after we launch and then begin production. For now, you can find a proof of concept short that explains what the film is about gives a taste of what it will be like. Feel free to follow and share with any and everyone you think may be interested in supporting the project in the future. Thanks.
