Will you ever set foot in a Best Buy again?

We are now in the new year and since it's now confirmed Best buy is removing all Physical Media will you ever go into a Best buy ever again? I see no need to go into their stores ever again and hope they go the way of Circuit City in the near future.

reply

Probably not. I can just order anything I want from Best Buy's website and for $10 extra I can have it delivered in the same day. It's much easier that way.

I like Best Buy. The sell all kinds of gadgets. I especially like to check out the "Magnolia" store-within-a-store. That's where all the high-end electronics are.

reply

It might be a while. Next time I need electronics like a TV or PC I'll see what they have.

Best Buy had a 10% restocking charge for returns 20 years ago. I assume that they still do, which is why I don't go in there. They don't stand behind their products.

There is a Best Buy literally 2 minutes away from me that barely gets any business anymore and it also doesn't help they open at 11AM and close as early as 6PM due to staff shortages

reply

Not an issue for me. I like Best Buy for electronics - which I can physically look at. I'm not a big fan of on-line shopping.

The Geek Squad has been helpful on several occasions, so yes, I will continue to shop there.

The only thing I think Best Buy will be good for me going forward is they do offer Electronics recycling for free which I have used. I think they charge $30 to recycle old TVs.

The last time I went to a Best Buy was December 2021 because I needed to replace my stereo.
Because I was about to turn 70, I had decided to splurge and get a really nice one.
While there I saw and was impressed with the Marantz M-CR612 Network CD Receiver coupled with Bowers & Wilkens 607-S2 speakers.
Thus I decided to purchase those.
Imagine my surprise when I was informed that I could not buy the Marantz from the Best Buy I was at, but instead had to order it online directly from Marantz.
After giving it some thought, I did exactly that.
I bought the speakers from Best Buy, ordered the Marantz from Marantz and after it had arrived and everything was hooked up, I went ahead and bought a Bowers & Wilkens ASW608 subwoofer from Amazon, as I did not feel like driving back to Best Buy.

Similarly, this past December I replaced my 40" flatscreen with a 50" Samsung 4K UHD unit along with a Panasonic Ultra HD/Blu-ray player, both of which I purchased from Amazon.
