Potential cure for type1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis and celiac disease in the works

https://pme.uchicago.edu/news/inverse-vaccine-shows-potential-treat-multiple-sclerosis-and-other-autoimmune-diseases

Would I take it? In a heartbeat! I would volunteer to be the first guinea pig.

Signed, million man.

reply

I'll believe it when I see it.

reply

Same here. But optimism doesn't hurt. What else do we have?

Signed, million man.

reply

I agree with this sentiment.

Ditto.

They've been curing cancer as long as I've been alive.

It's always down the road, up around the corner, blah blah blah.

You think the drug companies are going to give up insulin sales and whatever other sales they got going on?

reply

I'm still waiting on these rats to cure cancer since they announced it in the 80s.

reply

I won't get my hopes up. Since I was diagnosed with MS in 2010 there have been so many "new" and "potential" cures and they have all been let downs.

reply

I know, I know. But wouldn't it be awesome if like in 5 years from now it was available? Would you take it? If it cost 10k would you buy it?

Signed, million man.

reply

I absolutely would take it. 10k isn't much compared to the last chemo treatment I had. At least I'm in a country where I don't have to worry too much about the costs of drugs.

reply

I WAS GOING TO ASK WHAT THE FUCK CELIAC WAS....THEN I GOOGLED IT...NOW I AM WORRIED I HAVE IT...YOU FUCKING BASTARD!

reply

My kid has it along with type 1 diabetes

reply

THAT REALLY SUCKS...MY FINGERS ARE CROSSED FOR YOU ON THIS POSSIBILITY....A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT ALL AROUND WITH THOSE DISEASES.

reply

Thanks. I hope so, but not holding my breath. Probably expensive too.

Signed, million man.

reply

THAT SEEMS LIKE IT WOULD BE A GIVEN...BIG BUCKS IN BETTERING PEOPLE...I AM ACTUALLY SLIGHTLY CONCERNED I MIGHT HAVE THAT THING THOUGH....OR MAYBE SOMETHING SIMILAR...MY ISSUES WITH DOCTORS OVERRIDE MY NERVOUSNESS ABOUT SYMPTOMS THOUGH.😐

reply

Doctors suck, I have no choice.

Signed, million man

reply

YEAH...ONLY DOCTORS I FORCE MYSELF TO HANDLE ARE FOR ALI...FUNNY HOW KIDS MAKE YOU BETTER.

reply

A simple blood test can test for celiac. I had one recently and tested negative yay.

reply

I'm cautiously optimistic. The research was published in "Nature Biomedical Engineering" which is a highly-reputable journal. But they would have to do battle against the pharma companies who are making a killing selling the current crop of meds. Regardless, this is still good news and shows progress in a positive direction.

I'm excited about it either way. Better than no news at all.

I do wonder if it's something that one might have to take boosters for? I don't really know all that much about it, but a lot of vaccines need boosters. No idea if that is the same as an inverse-vaccine, so Pharma could still make money on it.

The reason why I'm not the most hopeful for me is they that don't know what causes MS. So while it may prevent progression (which would be utterly fantastic, don't get me wrong) I don't know if it would be a cure.
