Hitchcock, Selznik and the emergence of the director as auteur
Found this very interesting. Selznik, at the height of his power & productivity, brought over Hitch, already celebrated in Britain but largely unknown here, then tried to alpha dog him, just like everyone else, with mixed results - coupled with the emergence of Hitch as an independent producer of his own films.
