80's was ok at the time but Attitude was the best era, IMO anyways.

I remember checking out "modern" wrestling after having abandoned it and the story line they were running was that someone caused someone to have a miscarriage and was bragging about it. Uhm, yeah.

I think it's fair to say it peaked in the 80s.
