What's the grossest food you ever had to eat to be polite?

Salad dressing with mayonnaise in it.

Pickled Herring. My wife and I watched Dr. Zhivago once and decided that a Russian Christmas Eve feast was a good idea.
My mother in law, a half Russian/Ukrainian-Italian thought this was a perfect plan. So the girls headed out to Brighton Beach, a heavily Russian section of NYC and got all sorts of Eastern European foods. I disliked the caviar and that'll be the first and last time I eat it but hoo boy, that Pickled Herring was a great deal worse! I had to have some because the ladies were so proud of their feast and it's a good idea not to piss of your mother in law AND her daughter on the same day:)

I love fish!

Surinamese soup with banana. Absolutely disgusting.

Fish is amazing. I had a huge piece of grilled salmon for breakfast.
