Question for Europeans

Are Zotter chocolate bars worth the price? They cost $8.50 each, which sounds exorbitant, but the uniqueness of the flavors makes it seem like a worthwhile splurge. I'm thinking of buying a bunch for Christmas this year, both for myself and family.

reply

Never heard of them. Must be a mainland thing 🤷🏻‍♀️

reply

Yes, from Austria.

reply

haven't ever heard of them. buy 'em, its Christmas

sounds like the sort of thing they'd have on the shelves in Luxembourg or something

is the postage worth buying one flavour and seeing if you like it before buying in bulk?

reply

I'll most likely buy a dozen, which will cost about $100 lol. The selection is huge, so I'm confident I won't be disappointed.

reply

Apparently Zotter is unique because they process the cocoa beans themselves rather than buy them from a third party. It gives them complete quality control over the product. So there's some "hype" in that $8.50.

reply

ok nod

opinion - the Lindt advert has a woman saying to the other woman "it's so creamy", which is rubbish, cream just means extra fat, you don't (necessarily) want chocolate to be creamy, you want it to be....chocolatey (like Lindt's 70% or green and blacks 70% chocolate)

reply

The "creamy" is the amount of cocoa butter. For example, dark chocolate has less cocoa butter. It may be healthier, but it's not as rich. Fat tastes good!

reply

is cocoa butter a different ingredient to actual coco? I'm just wondering what dark chocolate is actually made of, I was assuming coco beans

reply

It's all made from cocoa beans. Cocoa butter is the fat in the bean.

reply

Cool good to know. The filled chocolate bar flavors are different from anything I've seen here in the US.

reply

Hmmm, sounds worth it then. Europeans are more expert at chocolate manufacture than Americans.
