"Inside a McDonald's restaurant in 1984"

I thought this was fascinating and wanted to share. Seems happier times. No one on their cellphones and actually talking with each other. No impersonal kiosks. Cashiers at each register. Also, what stood out to me is how respectably everyone is dressed back then.

They used to cook them in beef fat, didn't they?

Those fries back in the day were amazingly awesome!

Now, 30 seconds in the microwave take them out and you can literally throw them against a wall and break something.

Hard to believe Mickey Dee's fries are digestible.

reply

Yes, lard - which makes everything taste fantastic. Pie crust is so much flakier and I have a sugar cookie recipe that is so delicious.

reply

They still flavor it with beef fat.

reply

Flavor, not cook.

This is not your father's McDonald's.

reply

Same difference for a vegetarian/vegan/Kosher observant.

I wouldn't want any of the above listed to believe McDs fries are safe to eat when they're not.

reply

Nobody dressed up to go to McDonald's. Those are office workers during lunch hour and the McDonald's is located in a business district.

reply

Its not about what they are wearing, its how they present themselves and not everyone there is an "office worker". There is a tall black dude with a yellow t-shirt but even in casual wear, he looks neatly dressed compared to today's standards.

reply

Those are still majority office workers in a business district. Most are also older. Not teenagers who are much more casual.

"tall black dude with a yellow t-shirt"

I'll attempt to ignore your offensive racist "dude" comment. I wore a T-shirt, jeans and sneakers in a few of the offices where I worked whereas other workers wore suit and tie or business dresses/skirts. It depends on your title and department. I wouldn't assume the "dude" is not a worker.

I also see a few shopping moms with their children so it looks like some stores in the area, also.

reply

I know you are slightly unhinged but what exactly is "racist" about describing a black guy?

reply

They said dressed "respectably", not "dressed up".

reply

Semantics. They're still dressed for their office jobs.

reply

No, it's not a matter of semantics whatsoever. Casual dress can be respectable, but it can also be trashy or revealing.

reply

Most are not dressed casually. They're wearing business clothes for the office.

Trashy and/or revealing clothes are not appropriate for the office.

reply

There were LOTS of people in the video dressed casually. Watch the entire video and not just the few ladies at the counter in the beginning.

reply

I'm shocked that you're so unaware of how regular office people dressed in the 1980s. Nothing casual about most women wearing dresses or skirts with business tops (no low-cut or revealing) and heeled pumps. Men are wearing dress slacks and one guy had an obvious ID on his shirt.

You're probably confusing management with regular workers who have a different dress code.

Other obvious signs are the very large number of McDs workers usually reserved for a large lunchtime crowd in a downtown business area and those drab gray buildings outside the window.

reply

I wish I could say I'm shocked that you act like a smartass while being completely dense... Again, watch the entire video and not just the few ladies at the counter in the beginning. Have a nice day.๐Ÿ†

reply

Not a fan of smoking being allowed, though.

reply

I've never seen anyone smoking in McDonalds before even when it was legal to do so.

reply

I haven't been inside a McDonald's in a million years. Do they still have the talking tree?

reply

It shows how far our society has deteriorated.
