On my Android phone I use the Opera browser which has a free built in VPN. I never use it because it slows everything down.

Never watch him, guess he's sponsored. Some companies demand you use a VPN if you work from home. Also they are advertised plenty when you browse 'certain' kinds of website.

There's not much point in paying for a VPN service however as TOR browser fulfils the same utility of enhanced privacy for free. It's basically the same thing - your connection is scrambled. If I desired something nefarious and wanted to keep it hidden, that would be my go-to. I'd definitely not type it into a HTTPS search on google - google loves data.

The TOR browser is also what they generally call the darkweb. As well as the kinds of sites you know, such as .com sites, .net sites, and .org websites, the browser can use a special kind of website, a .onion website. This is a haven where you can buy unregistered firearms, drugs, false credit cards, and so on. They are not be a good place to actually interact with (since they are mostly run by corrupt feds) but I appreciate the old style web 1.0 style.
