shareMum's scrambled egg. Nobody could make it like her. I miss it so.
shareFriday nights at my grandparent's house. In the summer we would walk down to the ice cream shop and get quarts of hand packed ice cream, I don't know when hand paced ice cream stopped, but this was during the 1950's. I know some companies still hand pack at the plant, but this was where the ice cream was taken out of the large containers and packed into a paper carton as you watched.
Sometimes we would just eat the ice cream plain and other times she would make 7-Up floats. Either way - yummy.
Mom making animal pancakes.
The Chinese-Cuban restaurant we frequented.
Grew up near two great NYC pizzerias, owned/operated by Italian immigrants who twirled the dough over their heads and sometimes sang Italian songs.
As a 13-year-old, the very first McDonalds in NYC (or, at least, the very first in Manhattan) opened a few blocks from us. It was quite an event. https://books.google.com/books?id=EeNLAAAAIBAJ&pg=PA60#v=onepage&q&f=false
