Would you ever pay 20$ to see a movie?

My ex husband is still using my prime video account and he rented Evil Dead Rise 2023 for 20$.

reply

LMFAO šŸ¤š to him!

reply

I have no idea if he liked the movie, but I was like seriously 20$. He pays for a lot of my stuff including my new car paint so I can't really complain.

reply

If he still pays for some of your stuff like car paint then I know he also has Ā«Ā benefitsĀ Ā». Admit it!! šŸ˜

reply

i never pay for movies on these streaming sites. never.

reply

Same. Also, I would gladly pay to OWN it but they charge way too much just to rent something

reply

No way. Especially for a piece of shit like Evil Dead Rise.

reply

I'd pay $20 if it were a rare physical copy of a movie I'd been searching for or a ticket to a premium large sized theatrical showing in a pristine venue with an expertly calibrated projector and sound system.

reply

Wow, that's a lot of money just to rent a movie.

I still remember $1 rentals in the 90s; however, we had to rewind the tape before returning it back to the store.

reply

I would if I wanted to see the movie bad enough and it was not playing at a theatre near me.

reply

Only if I was very rich and money was no object.

reply

For a special limited theatrical release of an especially beloved project, perhaps with a Q&A with filmmakers afterward, or if the price included some cool limited schwag. Maybe a super-special grindhouse triple-feature at the New Beverly.

But to ā€œrentā€ a stream of a fucking mediocre remake/-boot? Heck no! What did you do to piss him off? :D

reply

Nothing he said he's been working 12 hour days for the last few weeks and just didn't care.

reply

If that is the going rate for middle-of-the-road streaming rentals, we are in deep doo doo. I suggest a boycott until prices return to some semblance of normalcy.
